Blog #2- The Unexpected Visitor

As per usual, Jackie was spending her Sunday morning swamped with grading. It was almost the end of the term, and she wasn't even halfway done, granted, it's not exactly easy to teach 400 students with little to no interest in the subject.

Jackie then thought to herself, "I deserve a little break. Just one glass of wine is okay. It will help me relax." Even though it was 11 am, and she was still in her favorite Syracuse University sleep shirt from graduation five years ago and sweatpants from the night before. She got up from her desk scattered with papers headed for the fridge when she heard a soft knock on the door.

"Who could it be? Will I finally meet the mystery man who delivers the newspaper every morning?",  she was frantically thinking.

"One moment please!" Jackie shouts as she dashes into her room. She throws on a cute purple top, ties her dirty blond hair into a bun, and darts to the door.  She opened the door, and the face that appeared in her door frame was not anticipated nor wanted, Jackie's mother.

Looking at her mother, all of the awful memories that Jackie attempted to suppress for years rushed back to her as if they happened yesterday. Jackie finally mumbled looking at the ground, "w-what are you doing here? I told you I didn't want to see you again."

"I need a favor." her mother said nervously.
"For what? I needed a favor from you for the past ten years but where have you been..? All you ever did was hurt me!" Jackie screamed.

Jackie slams the door shut in her mother's face and put her back against the door. Slowly, she inched her way down onto the dingy carpet and began to sob.
